CHRYSLER MUSEUM - 3D TOUR

During the covid pandemic attendance at public facilities saw a significant decline. However, the Chrysler Museum of Art was still driven by its mission to enrich and transform lives, and their desire to bring art and people together.

In February of 2021, the Chrysler was preparing to unveil an exhibition called Americans in Spain - Painting and Travel 1820-1920.  To ensure the exhibit was accessible to as many people as possible, Chrysler staff contacted RedDoor Creative Marketing and inquired about a potential 3D tour of the exhibit so that the Chrysler could share the installation with the world using virtual reality.

RedDoor staff had scanned hundreds of virtual spaces in the past, but most of these were apartment units and commercial or retail spaces.  The scope of the Chrysler exhibit was something altogether more challenging - not only from the physical space the exhibit occupied - but also from the need to include detailed, voluminous information about each item on display, in both English and Spanish.

RedDoor accepted the challenge and worked closely with the Chrysler Museum to create an immersive and interactive 3D virtual tour of the exhibit including detailed, color-coded historical descriptions of over 115 displayed works of art.

The result was an interactive tour with over 24,000 impressions and 3,400 unique visits from Norfolk and all over the world.  In fact, the tour was so well reviewed and received by the public that the Chrysler continued the virtual tour process on the next exhibit: Alma W. Thomas: Everything is Beautiful, even though covid restrictions had eased greatly.
